Travel Tip: Petroleum Jelly Can Do What?

Petroleum jelly. You probably have it in your medicine cabinet and you’ve probably used it for moisturizing, for lubricating, and for first aid.

I discovered on my last beach vacation that it can do something really cool: it can keep the sweat out of your eyes.

We all know that hanging out in the sun all day will indeed lead to profuse sweating for most people. Whether you’re plopped on the beach with a good book in hand or if you’re on the go from dusk til dawn, you’re going to sweat – 100 degree days will do that to a person.

And guess where that sweat will without a doubt end up? In those lovely eyes of yours. If you don’t feel like wearing a hat, use petroleum jelly.

Here’s what you do:

Using one finger, scoop a bit of jelly from the jar and then run your finger straight across your forehead, just above the eyebrows.  Both ends of the line should be angled downward slightly. The sweat will not cross the line of jelly and will instead run along the top of it until it reaches the end of the line. It will then drip down the side of your face.

So go ahead and give it a try on your next beach day. It worked for me!
